Octopus and Sea Turtle Coastal Mosaics, Stained Glass Mosaic Surfboards, Octopus and Sea Turtles
I've been in a mosaic frenzy lately.
I've made several octopus surfboards in this wonderful red and teal
color combo over the last year... that I realize I'm just now blogging about.
I adore octopuses and I love these colors together.
I still offer this design but wanted to create a more versatile octopus
that could be hung vertically or horizontally.
This is the new octopus surfboard design I came up with.
And I think he looks great hung in either direction.
See the video.
Oh yes! Forgot to mention, I have created a YouTube Channel.
I've been using short videos on Instagram here and there to share current work
and love the way videos can capture detail that photos
sometimes can't. I figured I would expand on that and add short clips
of current artwork on my own YouTube Channel.
While I was in octopus mode, I decided to retire my previous
octopus designs and create something new.
The first one I made was in a beautiful teal and purple glass color.
This one has sold but you can still view the video
.
I used the same pattern to create a blue/green mosaic octopus.
See the video of this octopus .
This mosaic octopus is large, about 34" wide and looks great in a coastal setting,
bathroom or anywhere you need a one of a kind piece of octopus art ;)
Since I was in the mode of revamping designs, I also retired the previous
sea turtle surfboard design and created this entirely different version.
This sea turtle mosaic depicts two sea turtles swimming in beautiful Caribbean
blue water with ribbons of kelp or sea grass. I love how it turned out.
For the fins and head, I use broken tempered glass,
it's perfect for this application and gives a great look.
See the video of this surfboard.
I actually created these two mosaic turtles a while back
before I made the new sea turtle surfboard.
They are both sold.
I used the tempered glass again on the fins and head.
I'm thinking of creating more pieces using the tempered glass,
it's so cool and fun to work with.
I tried to create dimension on this piece using lighter and
darker areas of the glass and I think it gives it a great look.
I used the WallApp tool again to place this turtle in a
virtual room. It really helps you see the scale of a piece of art.

Mosaic Surfboard Stained Glass Mosaic Chameleon Lizard Design
Update June 2017 visit my new online shop featuring my
coastal and nature inspired mosaics.
My latest mosaic surfboard order.
This order was for their son's room and they wanted a mosaic
of his chameleon named Derek!
This is the photo they sent me...
This is my interpretation of him
I love his little feet clinging to the branch!
"Derek"
I had so much fun making him,
I love stepping outside of my usual designs and creating something new.
The design wraps around the sides...
Lots of pretty greenery and blue skies.
He was shipped off to Delaware.
I still have items and reduced original paintings in my Etsy shop as well.

Mosaic Surfboard Art, Stained Glass Wave, Palm Tree, Abstract and Sea Turtle Surfboards
I wanted to show you some of the mosaic surfboard
wall art I've made lately.
Update May 2017
Please visit my new online store for dedicated to my mosaic
art featuring coastal designs and surfboards
This customer wanted an abstract design.
It depicts a sandy shore with blue waves and sky...
It has lots of iridescent tiles throughout that are so
beautiful when they catch the light.
This little sea turtle board is 2 feet long.
I modified my original sea turtle surfboard by leaving off the coral design at the bottom
to fit what she was looking for.
It has 2 cute little sea turtles...
swimming in aqua water with more iridescent tiles throughout.
This board was another custom design with their company logo
along with the wave pattern.
It has a cool wave pattern down the entire length of the board...
The "bolt" logo is done in iridescent white with light and dark blue waves..
not quite as dark as it is looking in this photo.
This board headed out to California.
This palm tree surfboard is another design I've made previously.
Lots of greens, blues and even little iridescent gold "stars"
in the night sky. It was shipped to California.
The last one I have to show you is a wave design that I've done before.
Again, so hard to capture those beautiful iridescent tiles!
This is one of my favorite designs and was shipped to Canada.
Thank you for taking a look at my surfboard art.

Stained Glass Mosaic Surfboards Part 1 - Sea Turtle, Palm Tree and Beach Waves
I've been working on a custom order for three mosaic surfboards and thought I would go ahead and post some "during" pics. If you would like, you can skip right to the after pics ;)
My customer wanted 3 different designs to fill a large wall in her home.
I've got most of the glass cut and ready to go. You can see the fabric swatch she gave me plus a general idea of the designs on paper which could change as I go.... you never know
She envisioned a water design on one, a foliage design on another and sea turtles or fish for the third board. Other than those instructions and the fabric swatch, she pretty much gave me free reign...yay!
There are three but here are 2 of the shapes cut out plywood, they are about 5 1/2 feet tall
Here is a "during" shot of the palm tree surfboard
....the wave/water surfboard. It changed a little from my first drawing.
Another shot of the palm tree with the sand...
I'm playing around with the tiles up top, they aren't glued on yet
Here are the sea turtles with coral surfboard with the swirly patterns of the water done so far.
Just a little more to go on this one, I ended up doing a night sky
with little gold "stars" (actually metallic gold glass) in the sky.
Just need to finish the edges and grout.
See all the completed mosaic surfboard post.
or visit my Etsy Store to see all the surfboards I offer
Thanks for checking them out!
